INSIDE OUR PLANS FOR WEST MEADE MANOR

Taking this house from 2,300 square feet and a single story to two stories over 6,200 square feet, 6 beds and 6.5 baths with a dedicated office and a rec room and three-car garage means a whole lot of work on the plans. We’ve been working hard on the plans for the last few months and had an awesome opportunity to work with Walk Your Plans Nashville to make sure they were absolutely perfect.

This house is right down the road from Bresslyn Manor, so when I heard it was coming on the market I jumped at it. To be honest there are so many houses in this neighborhood that I would love to get my hands on, not only because they have so much potential, but because there are so many builders in the area putting up copy+paste homes right next to each other.

THE STORIES BEHIND BRESSLYN MANOR’S BATHROOM DESIGNS

There are 7 of them…

Honestly I felt a little overwhelmed when I first started thinking through the designs of the bathrooms because I always try and give each bathroom their own identity. But once I found the core behind each bathroom and the anchor in the design it was smooth sailing. The original home only had three bathrooms, and the original primary was very typical of this age and size of home; a single vanity and a tiny corner shower.

Here we are! Sharing the finished Bresslyn Manor, and I could not be more thrilled. This house was going to be a special project from the beginning, because of the location, size, and potential. But as we got further into planning, each space carried a special design experience for me that I am so thankful to have had. I wanted a room that I loved walking into, no matter what heinous hour in the middle of the night it might be. And I also wanted a room that wasn’t too masculine or feminine, that featured pieces that felt timeless and that we would also be able to incorporate into this kid’s rooms years to come.

I did it again…

And when I tell you this one had me nervous, that’s a bit of an understatement! So, I actually bought this house a year and a half ago, which was before we even bought The Manor Cottage! It was at a time that we were right in the middle of Woodvale construction and had no idea we would end up holding three properties at one time, but this was a property that we could not pass up.

What we think they did a few decades ago was close in a single car garage and then add this living room space on to the original home. The space had a large wall closing it off and had 8 foot ceilings and literally no light. Other than the two windows on either side of the fireplace, this space didn’t even have recessed lighting!

The first thing we did was take this wall out!

The last thing I wanted to do when I got pregnant was buy a whole bunch of clothes that I would never be able to wear again. And as I thought about getting pregnant, I started paying attention to the clothes that I already had and realized a lot of the dresses and sweaters that I had would probably last me for a long time. So I got to looking into all of my favorites as well as some bestsellers that could fit for at least the first two trimesters and maybe even after.
